Thought the Yankees’ out-of-nowhere trip to Baltimore was wacky? The coronavirus has thrown another curve into the schedule.
The Yankees-Orioles game planned for next Wednesday at Yankee Stadium and the first game of the Yankees-Rays series at Tropicana Field have been bumped.
In their place, the Yankees will face the Phillies at home on Monday and Tuesday before heading to Philadelphia for Wednesday and Thursday.

Then manager Aaron Boone’s team will head to Tampa for a game Friday. It will stay through Sunday. The Yankees and Rays could play a doubleheader for one of those games.
And as for that single game that was to be played against Baltimore on Wednesday? It’s been moved to “who knows when it’ll be played” status.
“I guess,” Boone said when ask to clarify that no plans had been solidified to make it up yet.
It’s all in reaction to the Marlins’ coronavirus disaster. The club has had 16 players and two coaches test positive for the virus. The team reported one new positive test Wednesday.
The Marlins’ outbreak forced the league to stop them from playing as it continues to test them. The Phillies played the Marlins just before the positive tests were reported. So MLB put them on hold, too, to see if the virus may have transmitted on the field to Philadelphia players.
The Yankees were supposed to face the Phillies on Monday and Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park and then on Wednesday and Thursday at Yankee Stadium. But those games were postponed.
“We’ve had to navigate a couple of unique situations here early,” Boone said. “It’s been a really good point of communication for me, for the front office, through the players and I feel like the staff and the Yankees have done a really nice job, as quickly as possible trying to communicate what’s in play, what are the options.”
