Carlton have recalled big man Tom De Koning, just days after re-signing ruckman Marc Pittonet on a four-year extension, and dropped Jack Silvagni and Lewis Young ahead of Friday night’s clash with Sydney. The Blues’ decision to bring back De Koning, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, comes amid speculation that he will leave the club this year. The 23-year-old hasn’t played at AFL level since round five, but impressed in the reserves last week following two weeks out with concussion. Running defender Brodie Kemp, also elevated to the senior team, has been rewarded for his good form in the VFL. Carlton are desperate for a win after several weeks of disappointment while they continue to wait for the return of forward Jack Martin (calf) and defender Sam Durdin (hamstring). Martin is on track to come back next week, but Durdin’s timeline is still uncertain. The Swans have regained ruckman Tom Hickey as hoped, and he will give De Koning and Pittonet as much as they can handle on Friday night.
