The Easter half-term is fast approaching and as food prices soar across the country these cafes, pubs and supermarket restaurants are offering to help out families during the holiday. Sky News has compiled a list of popular places offering these deals.

With the Easter holidays approaching, these restaurants are offering free meals for children – or meals for just £1 – during half-term. From cafes to pubs and supermarket restaurants, here’s a roundup of popular places offering the deal. The restaurant offers holiday treats on the house for their new and existing Rewards Members. Adults must order a main meal first for kids to receive the free meal. For dessert, kids can choose from the Chilly Billy Ice Lolly, Fresh Fruit Sundae or create their own. Bill’s offers free all-day meals for up to two children from Monday 3 April until Friday 14 April – excluding the weekend of 8th April and 9th April. If one adult orders a main dish – this can be breakfast, lunch or dinner – the meal will be provided for the kids. The children’s menu has “family faves”, including the restaurant’s buttermilk pancakes, mac and cheese and fish finger and chips. Yo! Sushi, serving Japanese street food and sushi, has announced its “Kids eat free” deal for the half-term. On its website, it said: “Let us take the pressure off family weekday dinners and give the kids something to smile about this Easter at YO!” The restaurant has said from 3 April until 14 April, kids can eat free all day when dining with an adult. The adult must spend a minimum of £10 for the offer to run. The “Kiddo menu” offers a range of selections, from chicken katsu to prawn and pumpkin katsu. The restaurant also provides kids with activities to keep them company, such as crosswords and colouring sheets. The Italian restaurant has said kids can eat for just £1 if an adult purchases a main meal. The deal is on Monday to Thursday from 4-6pm and kids will get the opportunity to enjoy a three-course meal with a drink. The meals are suitable for children between the ages of two and 11 and to keep the little ones entertained, Bella Italia is also offering children colouring sheets. The terms and conditions state that the offer is unavailable in the following areas: Center Parcs sites, Edinburgh sites, London Cranbourn St, Irving St, Queensway 110, Queensway 55, St Martins Lane, Strand, South Kensington, Shaftesbury Avenue and Wellington Street. Preto offers a “Children eat free” deal with a maximum of one child for a full-paying adult. A voucher must be downloaded and shown to a member of staff at the restaurant to get this deal. It is valid every weekday from 4pm, all weekend and every day from midday during summer and during half-term only. The offer is open to children up to the age of 10 and proof of ID should be brought along in in case it is requested by staff. Kids can enjoy pasta and tomato sauce with a soft drink for 95p and any other meals for £1.50. Beefeater offers free breakfast for kids with its all-you-can-eat deal – served with a freshly cooked full English and continental favourites. The restaurant is offering the deal to two kids under the age of 16, with every adult breakfast purchased. The offer excludes all cafe specials but includes a meal with a piece of fruit and a Tropicana drink or water. Adults must spend £10 or more to qualify and the deal is only available for children under 12. Kids can select their favourites from the kid’s menu with a drink and ice cream of their choice. The family-friendly restaurant located on the ground floor of the Barbican is filled with tasty pastries, sandwiches, salads and much more. The cafe is now giving children under the age of 10 a free meal from the kid’s menu, if an adult purchases a meal over the value of £10. “At Hungry Horse, we’re dedicated to taking all the stress out of your morning meal so you can start your day right!” the website says. This Easter, between 1 April and the 16 April, the kid’s free breakfast is available at selected pubs only as an email exclusive voucher. The voucher is given to up to two free kids’ breakfasts when an adult also purchases a full meal. In 2022, teachers in England reported an increase in children who cannot afford school meals, lack warm clothing and struggle to concentrate in class. After surveying 6,200 state school teachers, it was revealed that staff were seeing “serious issues linked to the cost of living crisis”. Around 52% of teachers found an increase in students who were not eligible for free school meals. The teachers in the survey also revealed that some of the pupils were coming to school hungry and some families were asking to be referred to a foodbank for support.
