Jan Pearson’s receptionist Karen Hollins died in Thursday’s (March 30) episode, right as she was about to leave Leatherbridge behind with her husband Rob (Chris Walker). The couple had big plans to flee the West Midlands for a cruise now they managed to sell their house £10,000 over the asking price. In the scenes, Rob returned home to discuss their travels with Karen only to find her unconscious on the sofa. He attempted to revive her before calling an ambulance. Sadly, the paramedics confirmed that Karen was dead. Perplexed and in shock, Rob contacted Karen’s colleagues, but the doctors were enjoying a night out after having vowed to ignore their phones. Rob finally got hold of Dr Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) who rushed to their place. After her body was taken for funeral arrangements, Rob had the unenviable task to break the news to their children, only managing to get to speak with daughter Immie (Charlie Clemmow), while he couldn’t reach Jack. Later on, a distraught Rob realised that Karen had left him a voicemail earlier that day and began playing it over and over in despair. Karen’s death marked the end of an era for Doctors as the character and her family have been at the heart of the soap since 2009. Doctors usually airs on BBC One at 1.45pm from Monday to Thursday and is also available to watch on iPlayer.
