Everton faces an anxious wait to assess Seamus Coleman’s injury after being forced to pull out of Ireland’s squad to face England tonight

The Irish Football Association confirmed that the right-back was excluded from the match at Wembley Stadium before kick-off due to a repeat injury after a training session.

He has undergone a check but it is not known if he will prevent the captain from being selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad when the Blues return to work after the international break

In a tweet, a statement said: “Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has been excluded from tonight’s match against England due to injury.

“Recurrence of a previous injury in last night’s training session, following an examination and evaluation by the FAI medical team, Coleman was excluded”

Coleman was injured against Liverpool in mid-October, but he returned to the starting line-up for the Everton defeat by Manchester United last weekend, and played the full 90 minutes.

England face Ireland tonight at 8 pm with a number of other Everton players still participating in the start of the match with Michael Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
