In a tweet, a statement said: “Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has been excluded from tonight’s match against England due to injury.
“Recurrence of a previous injury in last night’s training session, following an examination and evaluation by the FAI medical team, Coleman was excluded”
Coleman was injured against Liverpool in mid-October, but he returned to the starting line-up for the Everton defeat by Manchester United last weekend, and played the full 90 minutes.
England face Ireland tonight at 8 pm with a number of other Everton players still participating in the start of the match with Michael Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
