To say that the past five weeks have been a whirlwind would be a massive understatement, but in this case that well worn platitude fits. After seeing the league shutdown in March due to the growing Coronavirus pandemic, Serie A returned in late June with the daunting task of cramming three month’s worth of matches into roughly five weeks, and all under the sweltering heat of an Italian summer to boot.
With two matches per week, plus a cavalcade of transfer rumors and the will they or won’t they saga between James Pallotta and Dan Friedkin, it’s been hard to gather one’s bearings lately. Roma were up, then they were down (like, way down) and then they came back up again, finishing the season on a crescendo—six wins in their past seven matches.
Standing in the way of pushing that mark to seven of eight is Roma’s perpetual nemesis, Juventus, the now nine-time reigning Serie a champs. Neither side is rolling with their usual lineups, but can Roma score their first victory at the Allianz Stadium?
