Dam Fire Erupts In Angeles National Forest Area North Of Azusa

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST (CBSLA) — A brush fire is burning uphill in heavy brush in the Angeles National Forest Thursday near Morris Dam.

The Dam Fire erupted around 2 p.m. near the 9500 block of North San Gabriel Canyon Road, north of Azusa, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which is assisting Angeles National Forest fire crews.

As of 3:55 p.m., the fire had grown to 240 acres and was 0% contained, according to Angeles National Forest.

Update, #DamFire, 1555 hrs: Heavy fire attack by air & ground units making progress slowing spread. 14 aircraft in the attack. Fire now 240 acres. 0% containment. Mandatory evacuations N of Morris Dam to Crystal Lake. Evac route out East Fork to Glendora Mountain Road.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is providing about 100 firefighters and two water-dropping helicopters to assist Angeles National
Forest fire crews with the blaze.
