A car caught fire causing traffic to be held for 20 minutes on the M25 near Junction 12, towards the M3 on Thursday, May 25. The junction is located between Chertsey and Staines. Lanes have now reopened after two of the three were closed but have now reopened. There were “severe” delays as a result of the fire. which was reported at 1.52pm. Traffic data company, Inrix, said of the closure: “Severe delays and queueing traffic due to earlier car fire on M25 clockwise at J12 M3. Congestion to before J10 (A3 Wisley interchange). All lanes have been reopened. The road is now clear, after various traffic holds and lane closures. Long delays remain on approach.” The Surrey Fire and Rescue Service added: “We received the call around 1.45pm to a report of a vehicle fire on the M25 between junctions 11 and 12.
