At the end of the second season of “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”, episode 10 finally aired on Wednesday, October 27th. The previous episode was titled “C.R.E.A.M.” this originally refers to one of the clan’s original songs from their debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”. The newest and final episode is called “As high as Wu-Tang Gets” which in turn is a nod to one of the group’s original songs featured on their second album, “Wu-Tang Forever”.

In the previous episode, the Hulu original series featured the clan trying to land a recording deal , learned new tricks of the trade. Like all the other episodes, they got back to dealing with their personal tragedies while trying their best to focus on the hustle and bustle. “Wu Tang: An American Saga” was created by RZA and Alex Tse. The show was produced by the duo along with Brian Grazer, Merrin Dungey and Method Man as executive producers. Wu Tang members, namely Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and GZA, serve as advisory producers along with ODB. With a record deal in hand, episode 10 entitled “As High As Wu-Tang Gets” follows? begins with the members of the Wu-Tang Clan who shoot the music video of their track “Protect Ya Neck”. The creators here try to show the essence of what is really behind the scenes of a music video shoot. The first few minutes of the episode were shot in grayscale to stimulate the audience’s imagination.

In one of the scenes are Sha Raider (Shameik Moore) and Dennis “D-Love” Coles (Siddiq Saunderson) recalls their trip as they discuss how they became Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, respectively. They remember the good old days while also remembering how much they sacrificed to achieve here. The episode also highlights the problems they face while filming the music video when Bobby Diggs aka RZA (Ashton Sanders) comes to the rescue with his unique ideas.

The show’s creators consider the final episode less tragic. They were more likely to grab hold of the clan’s achievements than they wrapped up season two. In one of the episodes, it is surprising that RZA laughs when his record label manager offers to open an event for the hip-hop heavyweights Run DMC. The scene then switches to clan members having a ball as they choose their best outfits for the big day.

In between all the drama, Divine (Julian Elijah Martinez), who runs the group’s business, gives RZA one Reality check of the conditions stated in your contract. The creators are introducing two new members to the clan who we assume will have a lot more screen space when season three takes place. The new treaty also creates tension between members. We see Ason aka ODB (T J Atoms) get into a physical fight with Bobby, but eventually they clear up their misunderstandings. The final minutes are full of chaos, backstage politics as they thump their hits at the event they’ve been longingly waiting for. The season ends with Bobby and Divine discussing more albums and singles, as the first says: “Wu-Tang is about to take you over.” The very last scene shows her records spoil when rainwater enters her studio and damages her entire collection. If you look at the end of season two, it seems that the creators could return for season three to move the story forward.

The final episode of season two isn’t heavy with tragedy, but rather celebrates the hustle and bustle of the Clans. It was delightful to see Ashton Sanders, Julian Elijah Martinez and Siddiq Saunderson having fun on the final episode. Kudos to the makers here. The rest of the actors like T J Atoms and Uyoata Udi also shine brightly, although they have less space on the screen. The episode could have been a bit shorter as we felt that a few scenes were included for the sake of simplicity. In short, the second season certainly ends on a high note.
