A 43-year-old woman was raped and then seriously burned by two men on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in Voiron, in Isère, before the latter fled, AFP learned from judicial sources.
“The prosecution has opened an investigation for rape accompanied by torture or acts of barbarism. These facts are punishable by life imprisonment,” Grenoble prosecutor Eric Vaillant said in a statement.
According to the Dauphiné Libéré, the victim, who was hospitalized urgently in a burn care center in Lyon, had started the evening with the two suspects. The evening continued at his home. The nature of their relationship was not specified. Against a background of alcoholism, the forty-something was then raped before being sprayed with hydroalcoholic gel that her attackers set on fire.
“The firefighters and police from the Voiron police station were called shortly after 4 hours by the victim who was found lying in his apartment, still conscious but very seriously injured”, adds the Dauphiné Libéré, specifying that the victim was burned over 30% of the body.
