Mark Selby, one of Williams’ rivals for the championship overall, had a 4-3 win against Joe O’Connor.

Pang Junxu defeated Martin O’Donnell 4-2 and the Swiss Alexander Ursenbacher lost 4-3 to Jordan Brown.

Williams’ compatriot Jak Jones was won by Mark King defeated 4-2 while Barry Hawkins defeated Anthony McGill 4-3.
