On Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October 2021, the town of Villers-sur-Mer (Calvados) will come alive with the Feast of the scallop and gastronomy. On the menu: seafood, gastronomy, cooking demonstrations and plenty of entertainment for everyone.

This year, the celebration will focus on seafood and gastronomy, all in a lively and festive atmosphere. In the city center, you will find the famous scallops, queens of the event, as well as a seafood market, and a wide choice of gastronomic exhibitors. Culinary activities accompanied by renowned chefs will punctuate the tastings, while artistic strolls will stimulate appetites.

Throughout the weekend, tons of freshly caught scallops and seafood will be offered for sale in the city center.

Around the scallop and seafood market, discover a selection of gastronomic exhibitors from Normandy and elsewhere. Whether you are more sweet, salty, iodized, or lovers of good wines, come and meet all these ambassadors of gastronomy.

In the company of a selection of renowned chefs invited by Flyin’chef, taste scallops all day long and attend cooking demonstrations by gastronomic goldsmiths.

Six culinary demonstrations will be offered every day, on variations of flavors around the scallop, mixing terroir, exoticism and original associations.

Departing from the Tourist Office, four secret gourmet hikes will be offered during the weekend, over 5 km at 10:30 a.m. or 10 km at 3:30 p.m., with a gourmet break in a unpublished place.

Julien Bailly, wine merchant and itinerant sommelier with “Un vin pour tous”, will offer four 30-minute wine workshops at Le Villare: Saturday and Sunday, at 11:30 am and 4 pm. Marrying good wine with good culinary associations can sometimes seem tedious. Julien Bailly will offer to discover the subtle art of food and wine pairing, accompanied by the scallop, star of the weekend.
And to further destabilize your benchmarks, the workshop will be entitled: “Discovering the Melon de Bourgogne”. Prices: 5 €.

To keep the atmosphere festive, concerts and strolls have been scheduled during the weekend.

On Saturday, visitors will be able to discover Radix, which draws its inspiration from folklore, Marauders, a duo with a pop / folk / blues universe, Mouv’N’Brass band, the dancing fanfare, and Anton, giant puppet, who will amaze young and old alike.
Sunday, place at The Cubaners, which offers a varied Latin-tropical repertoire, Les Zappeurs, a fanfare to listen to, watch and laugh at on television and cinema tunes, and Les aventuriers du vent, two zany characters, freely inspired archetypes of commedia dell’arte.

Among the other activities on offer, young and old will be able to discover the Accrovoile which allows all audiences to discover the sensations of traditional sailing. The Committee of Friends of the & Heritage Coastal Animation will hold a fish and maritime heritage smoking stand.

The Brotherhood of the Knights of the Scallop Shell will also be present. Created in 1988, this gastronomic brotherhood showcases the scallop, seafood, traditions and Costa Rican culture. Sunday, at 2 p.m., in the town hall square, the members will induct Villers personalities into the brotherhood and in public.

Finally, children can also have make-up and wear the colors of the festival of the shell, the sea and the fantastic characters of the sea, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
