Alex Eala from the Philippines lost 7: 5, 6: 3 against Sebastianna Scilipoti from Switzerland and ended her campaign in the girls’ singles at the US Open on Thursday (US time).

Eala, No. 2 seeded, connected the first set with 4-4 after falling 3-1 on Court 8 in New York.

Scilipoti and Eala exchanged service breaks when the Swiss took a 6-5 lead before Eala gave up the set due to a forced backhand mistake.

In the second set, Scilipoti broke Eala’s serve to make it 3-3, then used Eala’s casual mistake to take the win.

Eala can take home another title in New York when she and Hanne Vandewinkel from Belgium compete in the doubles tournament.

In the quarter-finals they will meet the American couple Elizabeth Coleman and Madison Sieg.
