LOS ANGELES, California – Aside from last year’s weird season shortened by Covid, the Utah Utes haven’t started a 1-2 football season in 14 years. That won’t happen again on Saturday against San Diego State.

The Utes will win their last non-conference game before the Pac-12 game starts on Saturday, thanks to these two BOLD predictions for the game against Utah San Diego State.

My first bold prediction for the Utes is that wide receiver / returner Britain Covey will find the end zone against the Aztecs. What’s so bold about that? Well, he’ll do it twice.

Covey will hit his first touchdown of the season on Saturday. But he will also electrify Utah fans with his first punt, which has also returned for a touchdown.

Hey # Utes fans … it’s officially game day !!! Or should we call it Swaggerday? I think the Utes will rebound strongly against the SDSU. I have 2 bold predictions for this game and this guy has something to do with one of them. Stay tuned! #GoUtes l @KSLSports l pic.twitter.com/ukyyP7iANn

Covey had three touchdown receptions in 2020, one in every game he played in the shortened season. He also returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown in a win over Oregon State last season, the second punt returned for a TD in his career.

Clark Phillips III intercepted 36 yards for a touchdown in 2020 back against Washington State. This was the 17th season in a row that the Utes defense had a sixth choice in a game.

That streak will be extended to 18 in a row against San Diego State. Once again, Clark Phillips III will be extending the streak for Utah.

The #Utes loosen up ahead of their last non-conference game of the season. Follow @kslsports pregame, in-game and post-game coverage on @ KSL5TV and at https://t.co/QVuU2OwGBt pic.twitter.com/ulS7pOSa78

If I’m in this weekend I’m a forecast business, I will of course try the final score. As I said at the beginning of this article, the Utes won’t start 1-2 this season.
