Annalize Murphy left two tough racing days behind her today with victory in the seventh race and second place in the eighth race of the Laser Radial event in Tokyo.

“I think I’m just happy that I finally managed to put together a good day,” she said. “You start to doubt if you are really good enough to do this, or maybe you just forgot how to sail.

” I think I realized that I was putting so much pressure on myself trying to do well here. When I realized I had kind of screwed it up, I just had to go out and enjoy the sailing and enjoy the race and take it one race at a time; try to do the simple things right and then I hope I get some good races. ”

She has two more chances to move up in the standings to qualify for the Medal Race, where the top guys -10 sailors line up. The Dubliner finished ninth in the fifth and tenth in the sixth race on Tuesday, after a disappointing start last weekend, where she finished 35th in her first race.

“I just have to get out tomorrow, enjoy the race and be good sail. I can’t really do anything special – I just have to keep hacking and hope I can get two more good results. ”
