The secretary of the SNUIPP-FSU of Moselle denounces the health protocol in force in schools the day after an exchange between the teachers’ unions and the Minister of National Education to take stock of the start of the school year.

Teachers’ unions feared a chaotic return to school, faced with the Covid-19 epidemic and the surge of the Omicron variant. The results, a week after the recovery confirms her concerns, according to Joëlle Noller. The secretary of the SNUIPP-FSU (first degree) in Moselle notes on France Bleu Lorraine “very degraded conditions” in the face of the multiplication of cases of contamination and of contact cases, both among students and among teachers. “All the vital measures that would have allowed the establishment of a school that is both protective for its users and its staff have not been taken, despite all the alerts for two years of a pandemic.”

The teachers’ unions were able to discuss Thursday during a meeting with the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer. SNUIPP’s request to return to the old rule (closing the class when a student is contaminated), it only announced a modification of the health protocol currently in force. According to this protocol, if a student in the class is negative one day, then positive on D 2 or D 4, it will not be necessary to restart a screening cycle of three tests for the other students. The student screening route will remain valid for seven days.

A situation and rules “extremely complex and very difficult to manage” both for parents and for staff, deplores Joëlle Noller who also points out the lack of substitute teachers, “we need, and we had already requested, that the staff appointed on the complementary lists be recruited. ” However, the teacher welcomes the announced distribution of 55 million surgical masks for staff in schools and educational establishments, but claims that these masks “arrive quickly.”

On Thursday, the Ministry of National Education said 9,202 classes were closed in France due to the epidemic. This is the highest level since spring 2021. At the beginning of the week, the academic director of the National Education services in Moselle indicated that 90 classes were closed in the department.
