Jolene Thompson knew that if she opened her own café, it would be Wolff Coffee Roastersâ ???? Big Dog Coffee Beans.

That dream came true last week when the mom of two worked with husband Dennis and mom and stepfather Debbie and Gary James to open Cuppa Juju on Half Tide Beach in the former Coalport Cash Store.

“We saw an opportunity with my husband at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and built a house on the beach down at Salon Salonika,” Ms. Thompson said.

The self-described coffee nerd said she wanted to offer local residents delicious coffee and food, with a little help from her former boss and bean connoisseur Kirsty Borg, who owns K&Co, Curb and 9th Lane Grind.

“We have great salads and lunch takeaway options from K&Co Catering,” Ms. Thompson said.

Ms. Thompson said Ms. Borg volunteered for the opening day and they were also visited by the team from the Third Ground Cafe in Sarina and the Siding Cafe in Walkerston.

The opening day was amazing. I ran out of milk, ran out of food, crawled and ordered. she said with a laugh.

“(Customers) come in and honestly they just leave.” I am so excited to have you here.

Cuppa Juju, which translates as “cup of good vibes” means open Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
