Hollywood is losing a real heavyweight as the late revealed Ed Asner (aged 40) won seven Emmy Awards during his rich television career, an all-time high in the history of the ceremony. Five of them were also gleaned for the same role: that of journalist Lou Grant in the series “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” (1970-1977), then in the spin-off dedicated to his character (1977- 1982).

The Kansas City native has also distinguished himself in the cinema by filming with Elvis Presley (“Un direct au cœur” in 1962) and by masterfully lending his voice to Carl, the famous grumpy grandpa from the animated film “Up there ”, Pixar masterpiece and winner of the Oscar for best animated film in 2010.

He also reprized his role for the upcoming Disney series “Welcome to Doug’s”. The program will be available from this Wednesday, September 1 on the platform.
