Typhoon Odette’s damage to agricultural products has now been nationwide P4 billion exceeded, said the Ministry of Agriculture (DA), citing the latest data from its ground staff.

According to the report by the DA-DRRM Operation Center, the damage caused by Odette has so far been 4.3 billion.

Rice, maize, high-quality crops (HVC), livestock, fisheries, agricultural infrastructure, disinfectant applicator, deep fryer, rice mill, fodder Acksler, rice cutter, cassava spinner and shredder were among the goods and machines destroyed by the typhoon.

The regions affected include CALABARZON, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga.

To help the agricultural areas devastated by Odette, the ministry has provided P 2.6 billion in immediate aid to the affected farmers; P 1 Billion Quick Response Fund (QRF) to rehabilitate affected areas; Rice seeds worth P148-M, corn seeds worth P57.6-M, various vegetables worth P44.6-M; P 500 million under the Survival and Recovery (SURE) Assistance Program of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC); Fingerlings worth P1.64-M and aid to affected fishermen from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); Aid and medication worth over 600,000 pesos for livestock and poultry supplies from the Regional Field Office (RFO V); and Pesos 828 million from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) to compensate the affected farmers.
