A new Tesla Model 3 police car has been made available to the emergency services by Tesla. The vehicle will be used for testing as part of the UK Government’s Road To Zero strategy. The specially adapted Model 3 will enable British emergency services to convert their fleets to zero-emission vehicles.

The combination of high-performance and all-wheel drive as well as low maintenance and operating costs make the vehicle a viable option for all types of emergency services. This includes police, fire departments, ambulances and paramedics across the UK. Halls Electrical, a well-established ambulance company, made the modifications to the Model 3 to make it suitable for its jobs.

Here in the US, many police forces have started adding Tesla vehicles to their fleets. The most recent and most notable review was by the Westport Police Department in Connecticut. When Westport first added the new Tesla Model 3 patrol car to its fleet, critics condemned the department, citing high costs. Two years later, the city released new financial data on its Model 3, showing the vehicle brought huge savings – more than enough for the city to buy a new Tesla police vehicle from the savings after the 4th year of owning the first Buy.
