FO3 Fulbert Navarro, CCFD investigator, told SunStar Superbalita he said the fire had started at Teodomero Echevarria’s home. The fire was under control at 1:55 p.m. and the fire was declared at 2:19 p.m. The fire worth 1.2 million pesetas. Navarro admitted that it was difficult for them to get to the scene of the fire because the inner streets were narrow. The fire destroyed around 100 houses. Almost all of them were made of mixed materials, which caused the flames to spread quickly. Navarro said they would have to seek police assistance after discovering the presence of thieves stealing wires from facilities in the area. He said they are still investigating the cause. Andressa, Echevarria’s relative, told the media that the fire did not start in her home. Andressa, a single mother, said she was disappointed that her family lost their home on Mother’s Day. Navarro reminded homeowners to be extra careful, especially since it’s summer and the temperatures are high. He said they should unplug devices when not in use. The third fire in Sunrise Village, Poblacion Pardo, was reported at 3:47 p.m. Serafin Dicdican’s house was damaged. FO3 Emerson Arceo said the fire started on the second floor. The fire was called at 4:06 p.m. He said the damage was set at pesetas 30,000. (GPL / KAL)
