TF1 will celebrate the “Star Academy” this Saturday evening and the two following Saturdays. The main candidates have been invited. The program celebrates its twentieth anniversary.
Remember, 20 years ago, in 2001. “Loft story” landed on M6 and immediately hit the nail on the head. TF1 responded by adapting the Spanish program “Operación Triunfo”. In France, the program takes the name of “Star Academy”. A group of young people locked in a castle in the Paris region, with intensive singing lessons all week and a prime-time on Saturday evening, hosted by Nikos Aliagas, where viewers had to eliminate a candidate each week. At stake for the winner: an album, an artist’s contract of one million euros and a concert at the Olympia.
The public then discovered Jenifer Bartoli, Jean-Pascal Lacoste, Olivia Ruiz, Mario Barravecchia, Carine Haddadou, Patrice Maktav … The Star Academy crowned Nolwenn Leroy in 2002, Elodie Frégé in 2003, Grégory Lemarchal in 2004, Magali Vaé in 2005 , Cyril Cinelu in 2006, Quentin Mosimann in 2007 and Mickels Rea in 2008.
The Star Ac ‘was also a whole series of teachers: Kamel Ouali at the dance, Armande Altaï at the song, Oscar Sisto at the theater … The program lasted eight years, from 2001 to 2008. It came back on NRJ12 in 2012 and 2013.
To pay tribute to the program which made the heyday of the TF1 audiences, the channel decided to program the “Star Academy” three Saturdays in a row, from this Saturday evening. The opportunity to bring together some of the former candidates and teachers, to remember good memories and of course to sing!

Asked in the Parisian, Jenifer remembers her beginnings: “I was not aware of what was going to happen to me. I was hoping for a lot because, at 16, I had left Nice for Paris trying to live on my passion. And it was not won in advance. I was having a difficult end of the month when the casting call came. ” She even reveals that, tired of waiting hours for the casting, she had almost left. Her roommate had encouraged her to continue in line. Jenifer now recognizes that Star Academy was, for her, “a huge springboard”.
