Stressed in a refutation of President Duterte’s attacks against him Senator Richard J. Gordon on Friday September 17 that he has no plans to run for vice president in the 2022 national election.

In a related development, Gordon’s colleagues in the 24-member Senate, headed by Senate President Vicente, congratulated him C. Sotto III and the Senate Minority Leader, Franklin M. Drilon, Gordon for his meeting with President Duterte after the ongoing President’s criticism of Senate investigation.

Gordon issued the statement to refute President Duterte’s claim that he (Gordon) presided over the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and his ongoing investigation into the “mess” of 42 billion pesos in the Procurement Service Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) used for his political ambitions.

He pointed out that the president himself is running for the vice-presidency.

Gordon said who Senate should be allowed to continue its investigation as it has so far uncovered “fraud, waste and abuse”.

During a mixed public on the Senate committee, Drilon congratulated Gordon on his courage to face the president.

Senator Risa Hontiveros said she was sure that jailed opposition senator Leila de Lima would join them to congratulate Gordon.

“I’m really sorry for you. You’re a cheap politician, as cheap as you can get, ”Gordon told President Duterte.

He asked why President Duterte continues to defend Michael Yang, a billionaire who is at the center of the PS-DBM chaos.

“I have prayed for you (President Duterte). You need prayers. I pray for your forgiveness, ”he emphasized.
