The President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Nazmul Hasan, announced on Friday that the board has appointed former national team head coach Jamie Siddons as impact advisor and that he will take up his new post in February 2022.
“The BCB is appointing Jamie Siddons as stroke advisor,” Nazmul said in a press conference following a board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
“We have not yet decided where and for which team he will work . But we hope he will join us as a stroke advisor by February next year if everything goes according to plan, ”he added.
It was rumored that Siddons, who was the Tigers’ head coach from 2007-2011, was the stroke advisor returned to the Bangladeshi team’s coaching team.
Those rumors, however, were put aside when Ashwell Prince was named hitting coach in August.
But now Nazmul has confirmed Siddons’ return to Bangladesh as coach, but his Workplace still needs to be repaired.
“We’ll decide where Siddons will work. It could be the HP team, the U19 team, the national team, the Bangla Tigers, whatever team we want. We could also give him a group of 15-16 batsmen to train, “said Nazmul.
The appointment of Siddons is part of the BCB’s plan to ensure players have the opportunity to improve their game between tours , and soon the board will be appointing similar coaches for other departments, said Nazmul.
“During a series, the coaches hardly have time to coach the players properly. The players who are not on the national team and are currently in Bangladesh have no one to coach them. We want to fill that gap. “
Nazmul also said that the board had decided to give the leading women cricketers a raise.
” We raised the wages of the women’s team last year … We have today [Friday] approved an even bigger raise, especially for the top players. Usually we increase the salary by 10-15 percent, this time we will increase it to 33 percent, “said the BCB boss.
This was the second meeting of the current board, which was elected at the beginning of October. At the meeting, the board approved the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the standing committees.
Akram Khan, who had chaired the Cricket Operations Committee for the past eight years, was removed from his old position at his request and became chairman of facility management Committee and Cricket Committee for the Physically Disabled.
Former Media Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus has been appointed Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee.
