Former Italian international and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta, for his second experience on a Serie A bench, started the 2021-2022 season on Monday with a draw with La Spezia on the ground of Cagliari (2-2).

Eighteen months after his express stint on the bench at Genoa (only ten matches before being sacked), the 38-year-old coach succeeded Vincenzo Italiano at the start of July, who left to train the Fiorentina. For their first Championship game, after a preparation disrupted by clustered cases of Covid-19 in July, La Spezia got into their game perfectly by choking the Sardinians and opening quickly the mark by Emmanuel Gyasi (7th).

Thiago Motta even thought he had a first success when Simone Bastoni doubled the bet (58th), but it was without counting on the beautiful reaction of Cagliari and his striker Joao Pedro, author of a doubled in five minutes (62nd, 66th from the penalty spot). Next match for Cagliari, a trip to the lawn of AC Milan, next Sunday (8:45 p.m.).
