For its last issue of the season, broadcast on June 14, 2021 at 9:05 p.m. on France 3, Secrets of History has decided to look back on the fate of one of the last queens of France, Marie Leszczynska, wife of the absolutist sovereign Louis XV.
France 3 offers this Monday June 14, 2021 at 9:05 pm, an episode dedicated to the wife of Louis XV. Great-grandson of the Sun King, Louis the Fifteenth is also the second longest reign in French history after his great-grandfather.
Although Louis XV is often referred to in this episode, the central figure will indeed be his wife, Marie Leszczynska, nicknamed “Our Good Queen”. If this king remains famous among the French, Marie Leszczynska is much less known to the general public than her sovereign husband. This fifteenth issue of the year is therefore an opportunity to present it to show in more detail the life of the king and his relations with the women of the court.
Marie Leszczynska, Polish by origin, will thus have to adapt to French royalty and deal with rumors and proven facts about the relations between Louis XV and his mistresses. Indeed, the latter, like the Marquise de Pompadour, could have an influence on the king, certain voices of the court even going to qualify them as unofficial sovereigns of the kingdom. What humiliate the young woman who will take refuge in entertainment such as games and music.
This issue closes the season of Secrets of History. Since the beginning of 2001, the magazine led by Stéphane Bern has enjoyed rather homogeneous audiences. However, there is a difference in interest depending on the historical figures featured in each issue. Thus, the best performances come from episodes about writers, sovereigns or artists, with an audience share of between 8 and 9.3%. Conversely, the worst results concern issues devoted to military leaders or personalities less known to the general public, the audience share in this specific case falling to 6.4%.
