Greet Minnen, who managed to extricate himself from qualifying, will play his first round match at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Minnen, 23, 125th player in the world, will challenge the Czech Petra Kvitova, 31, 12th in the world and seeded No. 11, in second rotation on the Suzanne-Lenglen court.

This will be the third duel against Kvitova for Minnen, the second on clay after a straight set loss to Stuttgart in 2019 (6-1, 6-4). Earlier this season, Kvitova had won 6-3, 6-4 over the Belgian at the Australian Open.

Sunday will notably see the entry into competition of the Japanese Naomi Osaka (WTA 2 / N.2), against the Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (WTA 63). This will be the first game on the program on Philippe-Chatrier court. Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (WTA 4 / N.3) will face Croatian qualifier Ana Konjuh (WTA 144) on Suzanne-Lenglen in the wake of Minnen’s match.

In the men’s draw, Austria’s Dominic Thiem, fourth in the world and seeded No.4, will play against Spain’s Pablo Andujar (ATP 68) in the second rotation on the Philippe-Chatrier. A court which will also host, in the fourth rotation, the debut of the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 5 / N.5) against the French Jérémy Chardy (ATP 58). Another candidate for the win on Sunday: Germany’s Alexander Zverev (ATP 6 / N.6), who meets his compatriot, from qualifying, Oscar Otte (ATP 152) in the fourth game at Suzanne-Lenglen.
