Caroline Garcia (58th) qualified without trembling on Monday for the second round of Roland Garros, dominating the German Laura Siegemund (55th), 6-3, 6-1.
Confident after her quarter-final in Parma and her 8th in Strasbourg, the French N.2 mastered her subject against the one who reached the quarter-finals at Porte d’Auteuil last year.
“It must be the first round that I have managed the best in 10 years of career at Roland Garros,” Garcia smiled just after his victory. “It’s good to find the sun, the public, I’m really happy to be there”.
To try to win the third round, Garcia will face the Slovenian Polona Hercog (73rd), scorer of the seed N.16 Kiki Bertens.
