Texas Rangers closer Jose Leclerc needs to be operated on by Tommy John to fix his right elbow, General Manager Chris Young announced on Monday, according to MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry.

Leclerc last threw on Jan. March took up a pitch and had problems with his elbow after the excursion.

The 27-year-old has achieved 3.19 ERA, 29 saves and 12.5 K / 9 in five MLB seasons, all with the Rangers.
