Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, the Pune District of Maharashtra has launched the Covid-Free Village competition to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and its variant of Omicron. </ The competition started on January 10th in the Pune District and will last until March 15th. The three villages with the best performance from the Pune division will be awarded cash prizes in the form of development funds by the state government.

According to the guidelines, three villages with the best performance will be selected at the end of the competition and with regard to their performance in COVID management rated based on 22 parameters.

The best performers will receive Rs 50 lakh for 1st place, Rs 25 lakh for second and Rs 15 lakh for the village in third place.
