Present in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) for the Fête de l’Humanité, Saturday September 11, Fabien Roussel will indeed be the candidate of the French Communist Party in 2022, 15 years after Marie-George Buffet.
After 15 years of absence, the French Communist Party (PCF) will present a candidate for the 2022 presidential election. Northern MP Fabien Roussel will wear the party’s colors. The latter was chosen by 80% of members last May, with a slogan: “happy days”. “There is an urgent need for the golden age of popular reforms, synonymous with progress, well-being, security and protection for the greatest number. There is a great need on the left to awaken hope”, a- he detailed in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis), during the Fête de l’Humanité, Saturday 11 September.
Even though Fabien Roussel and the PCF are credited with only 2% of voting intentions for 2022, he has promised his members that he will not step down. “There are not seven of us defending the same project for France. There are not seven of us calling into question capitalism, European treaties, refusing to put workers into competition,” he said on franceinfo. The last time the French Communist Party had a candidate in its name was Marie-George Buffet, in 2007, who won 1.93% of the vote.
