They have less than 24 hours left. Candidates chosen by the People’s Primary participants have until midnight Tuesday, November 30, to say whether or not they wish to participate in the final vote.

Since May, more than 198,000 people have registered to vote in this citizen election, which is supposed to appoint a single left-wing candidate for the 2022 presidential election. A greater number than the voters of the environmentalist primary (104,000 in the second round) and than the voters of the Les RÃ © publicains primary (nearly 150,000).

“We are going to propose a candidate for rallying to the millions of French people who wish to elect in 2022 a president whose priority will be urgency social and climatic ”, we can read in their appeal.

Ten candidates were selected: the activist Anna Agueb-Porterie, the deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis Clémentine Autain (La France insoumise), the economist Gaà «l Giraud, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo (Socialist Party), the European deputy Yannick Jadot (Europe Ecology-Les Verts), the European deputy Pierre Larrouturou (New Donne), the ex-elected from Rennes Charlotte Marchandise, the deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône Jean-Luc Mà © lenchon (La France insoumise), the deputy of the Somme François Ruffin (La France insoumise) and the former Minister of Justice Christiane Taubira (ex-Radical Left Party).

Among these candidates, some expressed their sympathy for this initiative, but indicated that they refused to participate – like Christiane Taubira and François Ruffin. People’s Primary (Association 2022 or Never) organizers expect a formal, written response from each candidate by midnight November 30. They will reveal the rest of the calendar on Wednesday December 1, in view of the responses received.

Activists in favor of the Primary plan to spend this last day calling out the main declared candidates (Anne Hidalgo, Yannick Jadot and Jean-Luc MÃ © lenchon) and urging them to participate in this vote. Rallies are planned in front of their campaign headquarters.
