Each year, October 17 marks the World Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It has been recognized by the UN since 1992 and aims to make everyday invisible visible and audible, without claim and far from judgments.

“The poor are not hidden, but we don’t really see them. The idea is to give them the right to name and city to make them more citizens, “explains Patrick Laprairie, of ATD Quart-Monde, who has been leading this special day in the metropolis for 10 years.

Each year, special events accompany this date and, for the first time, it is Plougastel who will be at the center of the mobilization. Around ATD Quart-Monde, local associations such as Secours Catholique, Secours populaire, the Astérie social center and the Image cinema have mobilized to organize, slightly upstream this Saturday, a screening of the film “Sous les stars of Paris ”, followed by a moment of discussion with representatives of associations, but also the intervention of people who know or have experienced precarious situations.

On Sunday, the entire Brest collective (ATD Quart-Monde, Secours populaire, Secours catholique, La Halte, Entraide et Amitié, Emmaüs, Digemer and Harmonie Mutuelle) will be present on the Saint-Louis market, in Brest, with an optimist to share messages on the rights and struggles for the dignity of all and sing together.

“Under the roofs of Paris” screening, at the Cinéma L’Image, at 2 p.m., followed by a discussion. Mandatory health pass.
