The Phillies are at home 7-2 after beating the Cardinals on Sunday. They host the Giants on Monday. Kevin Gausman (0-0, ERA 3.20) throws for San Francisco. Hope Blake Snell hasn’t heard of Gausman’s last start.

Manager Gabe Kapler left Gausman after the Reds lit him for five runs over the first two innings. He rewarded his manager’s faith by withdrawing the next 13 batters. Chase Anderson (0-1, ERA 4.00) has made two starts, both against the Mets. He has only given up five hits, but his appearances have been limited, allowing four runs in those nine innings. Anderson has to extend his stay. Believe he will be at home where the Phillies overcrowded. 20 units on Philly.

What a weekend! After Chris Taylor fell 2-0 to Snell (his only mistake), the Padres climbed back. Jake Cronenworth took Trevor Bauer (his only mistake) deeply. They tied it in the seventh and pushed home three runs in the eighth to beat the Dodgers 5-2. Our perfect weekend (3-0) reduced our deficit to -598 chimneyitis.
