The PBA hopes to be able to count on the success of their Scrimmages to finally open their deadlocked 46th season by June.

PBA teams are now allowed, after approval by the Inter-Agency Task Force, to carry out scrimmages in areas where there is a general community quarantine and a modified general community quarantine.

“It is important to us that the scrimmages are pristine and there are no positive cases,” said PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial in Filipino.

“We have to show that our scrimmages are successful in order for us to can play official games, “added Marcial.

The PBA regards Batangas City as a training ground. The capital has three venues – the Batangas City Coliseum, Batangas State University Gym, and the Lyceum Batangas – as potential scrimmage locations.

“We inspected the dishes and they met our standards just in case we start practicing there,” said Marcial.

The PBA is also waiting for the quarantine classification change in Metro Manila and Antipolo, which are under modified extended community quarantine until May 14th.

Before signing a deal with Batangas City, the league tried to train and stage their season in Metro Manila and Antipolo.

Delfin Dioquino dreamed of being a PBA player but he didn’t have the skills to make it. So he pursued the next best thing to be an athlete – write about her.

He took up journalism at the University of Santo Tomas and joined Rappler as soon as he graduated in 2017.
