More than two years after his ouster from France Televisions, Patrick Sébastien gave an interview to Paris Normandie, Friday, October 29, 2021. He notably assured that he would probably not have supported the new medium of television.
Patrick Sébastien finally seems to be appeased. After having expressed, on numerous occasions, his anger at having been ousted from France Televisions after years of collaboration, in the columns of Paris Normandy, Friday, October 29, 2021, he assured that it was perhaps a bad for good. “Honestly, I wonder if this is not a release,” he said, before explaining this new position. The famous host would have struggled to flourish in the world of television, which has changed a lot since 2019, when his two shows, The World’s Biggest Cabaret and The Happy Years, stopped. “I see a growing contempt displayed by the public services for anything that contains the word ‘popular’, as if it is dirty, a dirty word, almost,” he said.
If Patrick Sébastien has distanced himself from the world of television, he has still kept links with his fans. He will also go to meet them with his tour throughout France. With his cabaret which brings together nearly 100 people, he hopes to give happiness to the French who have always been there for him. When he learned, in October 2018, that the public service group had made the decision not to take him back the next day, he immediately had a thought for those who liked to watch him on Saturdays and looked for a way to bring them more happiness. From Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Zénith in Caen, he will be able to judge whether his new Biggest cabaret in the world, stage version, keeps all its promises.
In any case, he could not promote it by going to the shows of France Televisions, since he assured that he was “persona non grata on the public service, including as a guest”. “I can not come and promote my show,” he explained on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in the columns of Ciné Télé Revue.
