Prohibition of walking or driving in the village of Wissant in the Pas-de-Calais from 7 am. Evacuation of the campsite and confinement of the population, such will be the consequences of the Wissant demining operation tomorrow.
Three German defense blocks (Rommel piles) must be neutralized this Tuesday, September 7 by the demining divers of the French Navy. The operation must take place between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The date and time were chosen due to favorable tide conditions.
An evacuation zone in an area with a radius of 200 m around the defense blocks will be established. It will of course be strictly forbidden to circulate in this area! Suddenly, the village primary school will be closed in the morning. There will be no canteen or daycare.
During the operation, the population is invited to confine themselves, shutters closed and windows open to avoid the risk of glass breakage.
The municipality provides a welcome in the village hall for people who will not be able to leave the village.
The national gendarmerie, the maritime gendarmerie and Eden 62 will ensure the maintenance of the containment perimeter.
A message will be broadcast in the streets of the town by the municipal police to signal the end of the operation and the lifting of confinement.
