The Spanish Suzuki rider has finally recovered from his injury. Rins had fallen from the bike on the eve of the Catalan Grand Prix, breaking his arm. After his convalescence, the rider is now ready to start the motorcycle world championship again.
Alex Rins will be on the Sachsenring circuit in Germany this weekend. On June 3, on the eve of free practice for the Catalan Grand Prix, Rins suffered a fall while riding his bike on the Barcelona circuit. Doctors diagnosed him with a fractured right distal radius joint, for which he underwent surgery at Universitari Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona. Two screws had been attached to his arm, and two days later Rins was beginning his rehabilitation.
On Wednesday June 16, Doctor Xavier Mir from the aforementioned hospital gave the green light to the Spanish pilot:
“After removing the stitches and checking his wrist, we consider the mobility of the injury to be quite good and he will try to run in Germany. Of course he might suffer from pain during the sessions and he might need to. physiotherapy”.
Alex Rins also commented on this good news. He said he was not 100%, but he said he was very excited to come back to the Saxon circuit:
“I went to see Doctor Mir for a few checkups and I feel pretty good. He took the stitches out and the bone looks almost mended. I have some pain moving my wrist so I will continue to work on it. my recovery during those days. Either way, I’ll try to give my best. We didn’t race at the Sachsenring last year so I’m really looking forward to getting back on track here in Germany. I’m very happy to be back with the team; I can’t wait to see them all and get back to racing with my GSX-RR. “
Shinichi Sahara, project manager and director of the Suzuki team, also welcomed the return of Rins:
“We are happy to see Alex Rins back on track this weekend after his injury and surgery in Catalonia. It will be difficult for him to come back to full strength, but he has already started his rehabilitation and the injury is healing well. It’s a pretty physical circuit for the drivers, despite the short lap, so it won’t be easy for him, but we know he’s ready to push hard and get over that bad patch. Joan Mir has had a few nice consistent finishes over the last few races, and we’re confident he can continue to build on that success. We did a post-race test in Catalonia and worked on some small but useful tweaks that might help us in our quest. The Sachsenring is not an easy track but we feel ready for the weekend. “
Team Suzuki Ecstar has announced that # 25 rider Alex Rins will take part in the MotoGP German Grand Prix this Sunday, June 20, 2021.
