This Tuesday, around 6.30 am, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A9 motorway towards Narbonne at the Lespignan area involving a heavy goods vehicle and 2 vehicles.
Significant relief supplies were dispatched to the scene. When the fire brigade arrived, a person was imprisoned in a vehicle in cardiopulmonary arrest. Despite the intervention of a medical team from SMUR in Béziers and several attempts at resuscitation, the man, in his 40s, was declared dead. Three other people involved in the accident received medical treatment on the spot and transferred, as a relative emergency, to the Béziers hospital center.
The heavy vehicle being across the central reservation, traffic was severely disrupted in both directions. The A9 motorway had to be closed in the direction of Béziers-Narbonne to facilitate emergency response.
Note that at 9:30 am, traffic was still difficult in both directions. Operations by Vinci Autoroutes agents are expected to last until early afternoon.
