Leona Lewis was overwhelmed with joy to discover that EastEnders’ Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) had played two of her songs in a recent episode.

Whitney took the Queen Vic stage during the BBC edition Soap One on Tuesday (Aug. 24) after encouraging Terry ‘Rocky’ Cant (Brian Conley), who believed she was destined to become a star.

After the nerves subsided, the market vendor serenaded the audience in the pub with a breathtaking rendition of Leona’s 2007 track Homeless, which was featured on the X Factor winner’s debut album “Spirit”.

After Whitney had received an excellent response from her roommates in Walford, she was overwhelmed by emotions and picked up the microphone again, this time she sang Leona’s cover of the Snow Patrol hit Run.

It was well received by the audience, and Leona herself was quick to praise the show, saying that Shona’s version of Homeless was sung “so beautifully”.

The hitmaker of Bleeding Love added that it “means everything “To include their music on the popular show.

“To see someone sing my song (and sooo beautiful) on a show I grew up with. it means everything to me !!! ’

Fans of the long-running series drama agreed with the Better In Time singer’s opinion as several used social media to praise series star Shona.

“Everyone has to agree,” wrote one overwhelmed viewer. “I’ve never heard a beautiful voice like Whitney’s on the show before. She should be a singer in real life. ’
