You are probably all familiar with the La Vache qui rit cheese brand. Young and old, it evokes memories in each of us. Faithful to its department of Jura since its creation, the La Vache qui rit brand was keen to offer for its 100th anniversary an event that brought in contact with local populations. The roaming of the bicycle and its popular character then became obvious. Today, cycling is a rapidly evolving activity, a boom all the more marked by ecological awareness and the various confinements that have pushed more and more people towards cycling.
A cyclosportive accessible to everyone from 16 was therefore the perfect format to celebrate the event. With 1000 participants expected at the start of the event when it was created and 2000 a few days before the event, the “Cyclosportive Les 100 ans La Vache qui rit” will go well beyond the borders of the department… The mobilized communities will take to heart to welcome participants and accompanying persons in Lons-le-Saunier but also in the towns crossed and at the various supplies offered on the route. Friendliness and sharing will be the watchwords.
Much more than a cyclosportive event, the routes offered on Sunday September 26 will allow all participants to discover the Jura and its natural resources: its lakes (including Lake Vouglans, Lake Chalain and Clairvaux-les- Lakes), its vineyards from the Jura Grands Crus with a visit to Château-Chalon, capital of yellow wine, its agricultural and dairy farms at the origin of the Comté, or the crossing of Baume-les-Messieurs, one of the most beautiful villages in France and a perfect example of remote limestone in the Jura. Three formats are planned: 73, 108 or 163 km, the event is intended to be accessible to cyclists of all levels.
On this 100th anniversary, the organization also had to cross the village of Orgelet where Fromageries Bel was born in 1865 and where Catherine Sauvin, Léon Bel’s granddaughter still resides.
The course offered on Saturday 22 May through the woods of Rosnay, the Voie Verte PLM or the paths through the remote limestones and the historic site of Baumes-les-Messieurs correspond perfectly to the codes of the discipline. Cyclists will be at the heart of the natural biodiversity of the Jura. Change of scenery guaranteed.
