After announcing her new Las Vegas residency earlier this week, Katy Perry joined her year-old associate, Pikachu, for her new music video, “Electric,” which was released at midnight tonight. Perry travels back in time to encourage her younger selves (and little baby Pikachu, Pichu, of course). She subtly manipulates the farmer’s market, quietly cultivating her own sense of style, and leading her future pop star with a gentle fairy mother along the way.

Is “Electric” the latest in a long line of Perry’s inspiring pop ballads who follow in the footsteps of “Road” and “Firework”? Yes. Are you going to absolutely tear yourself apart the first time you hear “Electric” in your gym or go to a destination without a mask? Of course you are!
