It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Kate Powers, co-founder of Stars’N’Bars, to whom we recently dedicated a portrait.
Kate Powers, accompanied by her lifelong partner, Didier Rubiolo, have been transforming the culinary landscape of the Principality for thirty years now. From her first restaurant, Le Texan, to today’s Stars’N’Bars, the American-born woman has left an indelible mark on the Monegasque landscape.
The sad news was announced on the Stars’N’Bars Facebook page. In a tribute, they describe their founder as being “renowned for her love of life, humility and unfailing humor, even in the most difficult times.” “
In 2009, Kate Powers acquired Monegasque citizenship, then obtained the Order of Saint Charles – Monaco’s highest distinction, bestowed on exceptional citizens.
A great defender of the planet, she worked to create Monacology, the Monaco Green Team and the Eco-Angels. His commitment reaches our plates, since his restaurant has transformed its menu to now offer sustainable gastronomy. In 2020, she was appointed Ambassador of the Energy Transition Mission for Monaco.
The Stars’N’Bars adds, “We will never forget his unwavering positivity and desire to help others. “
Rather than offering flowers, Kate Powers’s family would like donations to be made to the Prince Albert II Foundation in honor of her memory.
