A serious diving accident occurred this Sunday, September 12 at Lake Vouglans in the Jura. A man in his fifties has disappeared: his body was not found and he did not come back up with his group.
This group of three divers had gone to explore the well-known site of the Chartreuse de Vaucluse to get a closer look at the submerged monastery 45 meters deep. The circumstances of the accident are still unclear, it is the two divers unharmed who sounded the alert because their comrade had not resurfaced.
A specialized brigade searched for the missing diver for six hours, to no avail. Research is due to resume on Monday. The three divers belong to a club in Saint-Claude.
