Rutherford County Fire Rescue Capt. John Ingle said in a statement Sunday that recovery efforts are underway at Percy Priest Lake near Smyrna. He said efforts also focused on examining an 800-meter-wide field of debris in the lake.

District officials identified the victims in a press release late Saturday as Brandon Hannah, Gwen S. Lara, William J. Lara, David L. Martin, Jennifer J. Martin, Jessica Walters, and Jonathan Walters, all from Brentwood, Tennessee. Their names were published after family members were notified.

Gwen Shamblin Lara founded the Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood in 1999 and wrote a faith-based book on weight loss. Her husband, nearly three years old, known as Joe Lara, was an actor on the television series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced that the Cessna C501 aircraft was flying from nearby Smyrna Rutherford County Airport to Palm Beach International Airport when it crashed on Saturday morning. The authorities have not released any registration information for the aircraft.

Smyrna is about 20 miles southeast of Nashville. Percy Priest Lake is a reservoir created by the J. Percy Priest Dam. It’s a popular boating and fishing spot.

“With dive teams in the water, we urge civilian boaters to stay away from public safety boats,” said Ingle.
