Iran kicks off their Group F game against Serbia in Lithuania on Tuesday.

Iran will face its eighth FIFA Futsal World Cup as a real challenger, having won the AFC Futsal Championship in twelve reported.

The Iranians made history with third place in 2016, the best success of an Asian team to date, and head coach Mohammed Nazemosharia is aiming for the title in Lithuania in 2021.

Nazemosharia has retained most of the 2016 squad, with players like Mahdi Javid, Hossein Tayebi and captain Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh – a four-time AFC Futsal Player of the Year – leading the fight, with defending champions Argentina the toughest hurdle.
