It’s the surprise announcement from PlayStation Showcase: Spider-Man and Ratchet&Clank developer Insomniac Games has unveiled a Wolverine game for the PS5, apparently titled simply Marvel’s Wolverine.

The announcement was made via a brief teaser where we see Wolverine from behind with a cowboy hat in a bar visibly after a fight. A big guy walks towards him and Wolverine doesn’t hesitate to snap his claws.

And that’s it for now. Arguably Insomniac has been very busy lately with the release of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. We also liked Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, but it’s hard to say if Wolverine will use the same style of gameplay.

No release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, but it looks like it will be a PlayStation exclusive, see a PS5 exclusive, since the text “in development for PlayStation 5” appeared.

Based on the clues seen in the teaser, including an HLK 181 license plate, it looks like the X-Men will face the Hulk in this game, as Ballaw points out on Twitter. There are also references to Madripoor, and to Asia in general.

If you prefer Spider-Man fear not, Sony has also unveiled a trailer for Spider-Man 2, featuring the duo Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as well as the appearance of Venom.
