NEW DELHI: India set a world record by administering 2.5 million COVID vaccine doses in a single day on Friday. The country’s goal is to raise more than $ 25 billion per month, a government source said.

“India will get about 20 million doses of Covishield and 3.5 million doses of Covaxin this month, and the goal is it is able to procure more than 25 million doses a month, “government sources told ANI.

Previously, on August 31, India recorded more than 1.41 crore doses administered in a single day.

Last month the Serum Institute of India delivered 19 million doses and another dose will be delivered this month.

According to the government, Zydus Cadila is expected to deliver a billion doses by the end of the month, which will help to speed up the vaccination campaign. There is no shortage of vaccines.

Regarding the booster dose, government sources said there is insufficient data in the country on the need for a booster dose.

The centre’s priority is to vaccinate India first before any vaccines are exported to other countries . “Vaccinating citizens is a priority and exporting vaccines will not be discussed until the country’s requirements are expired,” the official source said.

India will produce more doses of vaccine from next month after the delivery of the Covid-19 – Biological E vaccine begins.
