Ignite head coach Brian Shaw said the decision affecting Filipino NBA prospect Kai Sotto would be made by people who have more authority than him. “That’s going to be determined by the people above my pay grade,” Shaw said recently after the Ignite improved their win-loss record to 3-0 in the G League bubble in Orlando, Florida.

It can be remembered that the 7-foot-2 sotto left Ignite training camp to return to the Philippines and prepare with the Gilas Pilipinas to qualify for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup. But with the third and final leg of the said suddenly postponed and back to Clark, Pampanga, Sotto is now flying back to the US to supposedly join the Ignite. Whether Sotto will be able to do this is a different story, however, as the boy has to go through four days of isolation and then register four negative tests before he can go into the bladder. Shaw added that his focus is on preparing Ignite for the games ahead, especially if the team is doing so well so far. “I’m just worried about the guys that are here coaching them, and we’ll see what happens when we get to that point,” Shaw said.
