Like Microsoft with Windows 11, Huawei will be integrating a full Android emulator into its new MateBook 13s and 14s. The software is called Huawei Mobile App Engine. It runs under Windows. And it will allow Android applications to be installed on PC and used with a large screen, keyboard and mouse. And it will be possible to open several applications at the same time.

Huawei introduced a slew of new computer products in China today. Among them we find a multifunction printer, an all-in-one computer (the MateStation X), a desktop computer (the MateStation S), a new MateView GT display, keyboards, mice and mouse pads, etc. There was also a new tablet, the MatePad Pro, as well as two laptops for the MateBook line.

The latter two are called MateBook 13s and 14s. These are two computers offering a very correct technical sheet: 13.4 or 14 inch screen, Core i5-11300H or Core i7-11370H processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD (or even 1 TB as an option for the MateBook 14s ), an integrated Intel Iris Xe G7 graphics chipset, 60 Wh and 65 Wh battery, 720p retractable webcam, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 compatibility, four microphones, four speakers and an aluminum chassis. Their weight does not exceed 1.5 kg.

Both PCs obviously run Windows 10. One of the most amazing new features of these two PCs is called Huawei Mobile App Engine. It is a complete Android emulator that allows you to use Android applications directly on the PC. So you use a large screen area, keyboard and mouse to control them. The emulator also allows you to install apps (from APK archives) and launch multiple apps in separate windows. It seems almost obvious that the AppGallery will be preinstalled to provide these applications.

Huawei is not the first company to want to marry the Android ecosystem to that of Windows. Microsoft also wants to offer this feature to all of its users. A full Android emulator is therefore planned in Windows 11. In the meantime, we must rely on the various initiatives of the manufacturers. We are thinking of Samsung with DeX or even Motorola with Ready For (which you find in the Motorola Edge 20 series).
